Light-guide & HMI lighting

Light-guide and HMI lighting are used to create clear and effective visual communication in panels, machines and electronic systems. These components transport and disperse light from LED or other light sources to desired surfaces in a controlled manner, making it easy for operators to quickly read status, warnings or information.

HMI (Human-Machine Interface) lighting combines optical precision with ergonomic design, ensuring that control panels, displays and instruments are easy to read even in demanding environments. With different colours, intensities and light distribution, light-guide and HMI lighting can be adapted to specific applications and design requirements.

Different types of light guides

Light guides are available in several designs to suit different construction and installation requirements. The range includes, among others:

  • Front panel mounted light guides
  • Vertical and horizontal light guides for printed circuit boards
  • Single and multiple light guides
  • Stacked and bar graph solutions
  • Flexible light guide system

This makes it possible to create clear light indication even in very compact or customised designs.

Optical precision and even light distribution

Light guides from leading manufacturers such as Mentor are developed with a focus on high luminous efficiency and homogeneous light distribution. Advanced optical design minimises light loss, glare and light scattering, providing a clear and uniform visual indication even at low LED power.

This contributes to energy-efficient operation and long lifetime of both light source and optical components.

Adapted for industrial environments

Light-guide and HMI lighting are developed for reliable operation in industrial applications. The products are manufactured in high-performance plastics and offer:

  • High ESD resistance (protection against static electricity)
  • Long life without maintenance
  • Possibility of IP rated solutions (e.g. IP67/IP68)
  • Stable functioning in case of vibrations and temperature variations

This makes them suitable for control cabinets, machines, vehicles and demanding industrial environments.

Standard products and customised solutions

In addition to a very wide standard range, we also offer customised light guide solutions. Customisations can include length, shape, light opening or specific light distribution to suit unique panel designs and HMI layouts.
