Eaton launches new Martek Power PME series of DC/DC converters for the railway industry

Eaton, a leading power supply company, now presents the Martek Power PME series - a new family of DC/DC converters specially designed for railway applications. These compact and efficient converters meet the latest European railway standards, ensuring high performance and safety for electronic equipment on board trains.

The PME series is available in three power classes: 75W (PMEL), 150W (PMEM) and 300W (PMEH). The PMEL and PMEM models have an extra wide clamping range of 14,4-137,5 V, making them flexible enough to handle all common battery voltages in a single model. They offer output voltages of 12V, 15V or 24V. The PMEH model is available with two clamping ranges - 24/36V and 72/110V - and provides output voltages on 15V or 24V.

All models are fully insulated and operate efficiently in temperatures from -40°C to 70°C without power reduction. They also have isolated output voltage monitoring as standard. The PMEH model on 300W also offers the possibility of load sharing, making it easy to connect multiple converters for increased capacity or redundancy.

The versatility of the PME series makes it ideal for a range of critical systems on board trains, including:

  • Air conditioning (HVAC)
  • Driver communication systems
  • LED lighting
  • Passenger information system
  • Video surveillance and security
  • Door control system
  • Braking system

"The Martek Power PME series is designed to meet the high demands of the railway industry, delivering reliable and compact power conversion solutions," says Mike Carter, Head of Eaton's Mobility Group in Cambridge, UK. "With full compatibility with the latest European standards, the PME series improves the safety, reliability and performance of on-board systems.
